Beyond the Label
To sip Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is to experience bourbon in its purest form: uncut, straight from the barrel, and without chill filtering. This ReserveBar exclusive is a 9-YO release that boasts a complex array of flavors in a 123.9-proof pour. Each bottle is hand labeled with its unique proof and batch number, but the nose, taste, and finish are pure Elijah Craig.
From Lee Diaz, Topflight Series Panel Member:
This 123.9 proof, nine-year-old selection quickly reminds me of everything that I love about Elijah Craig, with a few surprises to give your palate a little stretch. It was pulled from the famed Warehouse KK, which is where some of our favorite Elijah Craig selections have been pulled from. This rickhouse is on the Schenley site, home to a total of nine warehouses where the old Fairfield and Schenley distilleries were located. There is a full range of classic bourbon notes throughout this tasting experience. The hue is a deep amber with a nose that offers maple syrup, candied cherries, light oak and a dusting of cinnamon. On the palate, there was you’ll find baking spices, toasted oak, and elements that come together as s’mores. The finish has this complex balance of sweet brown sugar and leather tannins with a lingering white pepper finish. You definitely should not sleep on this pick.
